A Message from the Chairman

At Herfy, one clear vision has always guided us all these years: to develop worldclass products and, in the process, to play a leading role in the development of the Saudi food industry.

By the grace of Allah, over the last 27 years, we have turned this vision into reality.

Not only have we built the largest and fastest-growing chain of fastfood restaurants in the Kingdom, but we have also become one of the region’s largest and most integrated food service companies with fastfood restaurants, two bakery factories, a state-of-the-art meat processing plant and three other  factories in the works. It has been an honor indeed to have overseen this growth and watched this 100- percent Saudi-owned company become a symbol for world-class quality not only in the Kingdom, where it is a leader, but also for the rest of the region.

Founder and Chairman

Herfy Food Services Company

Over 27 years of success

For over 27 years, the name Herfy has become synonymous with world-class Saudi quality, entrepreneurship and innovation. It is one of today’s leading Arab companies, with a successful reputation built on its market-leading restaurant and bakery businesses.

The company was co-founded in 1981 by Ahmed Al-Said who had just returned from his studies in the United States, driven by a vision of the future inspired by the fastfood craze then sweeping the world. In partnership with Panda United under its General Manager Hmoud Al-Ibrahim, the first Herfy restaurant opened in Riyadh that same year. Looking to have better control over the quality of its ingredients, the company also decided to start making its own breads. Thus was also born Herfy Bakery in 1982.

In 1994, Kingdom Holding led by its Chairman, H.R.H. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz, took control of Panda United’s stake in the company and became actively involved in planning the young company’s growth. Finally, in 1998, Al Azizia Panda United was incorporated with the Savola Group headed by its Chairman, Engr. Adel Al-Fakeh. Since then, Herfy has been operating in partnership with the

Savola Group.

Herfy’s solid commitment to quality and highly-qualified staff as well as its continuous investments in the latest fastfood technology form the bedrock of its success. A series of administrative measures has also transformed Herfy into a lean yet powerful organization. This has allowed us to pursue an aggressive expansion program and compete with the largest international brands operating in the fastfood and food production market. Through it all, Herfy has grown into the Kingdom’s biggest and most successful fastfood brand, dominating the Saudi market. It has also become one of the Kingdom’s first fully-integrated food services companies with its own bakery factory, bakery outlets and a new state-of-the-art meat processing plant.

Herfy Restaurants

Saudi Arabia’s No. 1 fastfood chain Today, Herfy is a fast-growing network of over 120 hugely popular fastfood restaurants across Saudi Arabia. This makes Herfy far and away the biggest and fastest-growing fastfood chain in the Kingdom—and one of the biggest fastfood companies in the Middle East.

Indeed,Herfy has already started expanding overseas with branches in  ahrain, the Emirates and soon, the rest of the Gulf.

Herfy’s menu offering—top Saudi favorites because of the way they capture local tastes—have helped fuel Herfy’s phenomenal growth.Herfy offers one of the most varied menus in the business including a choice of 19 combo meals and some 30 individual items from hamburgers to chicken, seafood and various side orders. In response to changing market tastes, Herfy regularly refreshes its menu with new additions, including such recent hits as the Herfy Chicken Tortilla, Herfy Kofta sandwich and Herfy Chilli Chicken.

A new look, a new era of growth

To celebrate 25 years of success, Herfy recently adopted a contemporary new logo which reflects Herfy’s leadership stature and world-class quality. The sleek new icon, inspired by the initial Arabic character of the Herfy name, projects a modern yet distinctly Arabic feel and will accompany Herfy into the future as it continuous its dynamic growth as one of the region’s major food services brands.

Herfy Meat Processing Plant

Quality and good taste One important driving force has pushed Herfy’s growth through the years: its commitment to the best quality ingredients, technology and staff.

Indeed, just as Herfy’s commitment to use high quality fresh breads led it to establish its own Herfy Bakery,Herfy’s desire to use only the best quality meats has led it to create its own line of processed meat products. This vision and commitment has led to the decision to invest in one of the newest and most modern meat-processing plants in the region. The new state-of-the-art Herfy Meat Processing Plant started operating in 2005 at the Second Industrial City in Riyadh. It now produces high-quality beef and chicken meat products for Herfy restaurants.

The new plant is considered as the leading meat processing plant in the Middle East. It uses the latest manufacturing technology and produces fully-cooked products which are considered much safer and healthier than semi-cooked products. Indeed, the plant has earned an international ISO 22000;2005 certification for the safety of its various food production.

Herfy Bakeries

Quality enjoyed for over a generation Since its inception in 1982, Herfy Bakeries has grown from being a simple supplier for Herfy restaurants into a major supplier of fresh-baked breads, Arabic sweets, cookies, biscuits, donuts, qursan, sandwiches and Arabic breads for various retailers and institutions throughout the Kingdom. The growth of Herfy Bakeries came from continuous investments in the latest technology and the use of highly-qualified people. This combination has allowed Herfy to build a reputation for quality and good taste enjoyed by more and more loyal customers through the years. Many of Herfy’s bakery products have become market leaders in terms of sales, quality and market demand. Indeed, to meet strong demand for Herfy bakery products, the company decided to expand its facilities and invest in new factories capable of handling new product lines.

Herfy Factory for Rusk and Bakery Products

A reputation for quality and authentic taste To meet growing demand, Herfy company expanded in 2003 and opened the Herfy Factory for Rusk and Bakery Products at the Second Industrial City in Riyadh. Herfy Foods

A new force in food products

As one of the Kingdom’s first fully-integrated food services companies, Herfy now produces an expanding line of bakery and processed meat products.

These products are manufactured in three modern facilities including the original

Herfy Bakery Factory, the Herfy Rusk and Maamoul Factory and the new state-of the-art Herfy Meat Processing Plant.

These modern facilities now position Herfy as a major force in food products. For

this reason, Herfy has created a new brand name to carry all its bakery and processed meat products. That new umbrella brand is Herfy Foods, a name envisioned to connote the highest standard of quality for everything from maamoul breads to fully-cooked frozen chicken tenders, chicken nuggets, burgers patties—plus all of Herfy’s present and future food products. Overseas Expansion

Growing to the rest of the region

HERFY’s success has positioned the company for even more growth beyond the borders of Saudi Arabia. In addition to Herfy restaurants in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, plans are already afoot to open more Herfy branches in other Gulf countries. With over 25 years of fastfood expertise and success behind it,Herfy is well on its way to  challenging the world’s biggest fastfood brands in its own part of the world—and, perhaps, beyond.

Herfy’s non-restaurant businesses are also poised to expand their presence in both the local and regional market. A growing selection of new Herfy bakery items—and soon, processed meat products—continue to come out of Herfy’s modern factories.

Herfy continues to invest in product development and state-of-the-art technology as it seeks to achieve its long-held vision to become one of the region’s leading food services brands.
